Fort Lauderdale Broker Barred By FINRA

Michael Joseph Dellaporta Jr. (CRD#: 500214) is a formerly registered securities broker and investment adviser. From August of 2015 to August of 2018, Mr, Dellaporta Jr. was a representative of Fusion Analytics Securities LLC in Coral Springs, Florida. After that, he spent a year working as a broker for B.B. Graham & Company Inc. in Fort Lauderdale.

In January of 2021, a complaint was filed against this broker alleging $360,000 in damages based on a solicitation to invest in a fraudulent company. In April, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) barred Mr. Dellaporta Jr. for failure to cooperate with an investigation. Here, our Florida investment fraud attorneys offer an overview of the allegations.

Barred Broker: Michael Joseph Dellaporta Jr. Formerly of Fusion Analytics Securities

Background Information

The underlying matter in this case relates to the investor complaint filed against Florida investment adviser Michael Joseph Dellaporta Jr. in January of this year. The complaint was filed by a customer of his former brokerage firm, Fusion Analytics Securities LLC. According to the complaint, the investor suffered $360,000 in financial damages because Mr. Dellaporta Jr. solicited an investment in an outside business activity (OBA) that he was involved in.

Records obtained through FINRA’s BrokerCheck database confirm that the outside business activity in question was related to a company called 1 Global Capital LLC (1 Global). A commercial lending investment entity based in South Florida, 1 Global faces serious fraud allegations from the federal government. In September of 2020, the Department of Justice (DOJ) filed charges alleging that 1 Global fraudulently raised more than $100 million in funds from approximately 3,600 different investors.

Alleged Violative Conduct

Following the complaint from an investor, FINRA launched its own inquiry into the conduct of former Michael Joseph Dellaporta Jr. Among other things, investigators were reviewing whether or not this broker improperly engaged in undisclosed outside business activities. However, in direct violation of FINRA RUle 8210, Mr. Dellaporta Jr. declined to cooperate with the agency’s investigation.

Customer Complaint is Still Pending

Notably, the customer complaint against the former Fusion Analytics Securities broker is still listed as pending by FINRA. The investor is requesting $360,000 in financial compensation for damages sustained. No final determination has yet been made on the matter.

FINRA Sanction

Without admitting or denying any wrongdoing, former Florida broker Michael Joseph Dellaporta Jr. consented to FINRA’s proposed sanctions. Based on violations of FINRA Rule 8210 and FINRA Rule 2010, Mr. Dellaporta Jr. has been barred from associating with any member firm in any capacity.
